My Week In The Blogosphere!

Posted on Updated on

This week, I am going to start off on a serious note.  I live on Galveston Island.  We a beautiful place to live.  I have great neighbors!  We are a University town and well as a big tourist Mecca on the Gulf coast.  I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

I spent my time this afternoon, with a group called Coalition Galveston.  We spent the afternoon brainstorming on the problem of anti-sex trafficking.

Polaris ProjectAnti-sex trafficking is a big deal here.  It’s not obvious, but it’s out there.  And it involves young kids.   Both girls and boys.  And if you think that it is just poor kids that get caught up in this problem, you’re wrong.  These children come from every socioeconomic group, ethnic group, and race.  And anti-sex trafficking is an American problem, not just Galveston.  We are seeing it in small towns and farming communities.  If you want to find out more, check out the Polaris Project.  Here is a blurb from them.

Polaris, named after the North Star that guided slaves to freedom in the U.S., disrupts the conditions that allow human trafficking to thrive in our society. From working with government leaders to protect victims’ rights, to building partnerships with the world’s leading technology corporations, we spark long-term change that focuses communities on identifying, reporting and eliminating trafficking networks.

And here is the group that I am working with

I hope that you will consider becoming involved.  After all, children are our future.

Now on to better topics.

This Weeks New Blogs!

I found some really great blogs that I saw for the first time.  Too many to list is a single blog post.  Here are my highlights!

I love the blog EncouragingWords.  Go here to find out about what is happening in education.  You can find out information on free colleges.  They highlight students.  I loved little Mikaila.  All kinds of great stuff!

Thirty Days To Play  pick and new thing every month.  This month is to pay for everything in cash only.  Another month was to be a vegan for the month.  She challenges people in the blogosphere to join her.  Are you up to it?

More Than Just Toast gives us creative ways to eat toast at any meal.  I love to eat breakfast and I will eat it any time of the day.  This is a great blog.

World And Time Enough is a travel blog.  And it’s not to the usual place.  There are some pretty out of the way destinations!

My Favorite Blog Posts of The Week!

I am taking editorial privilege to repost this post of mine.  My meeting today was at our local library.  So many people complain about paying for libraries.  I can’t be stressed too much value you get from your library.  Our meeting was free.  Most other places we would have paid.  I call it a steal!

6 Ways Your Local Library Can Save You Money

And I am always looking for ways to save money.  And Target is where we can shop!\

From foodfulife,  I thought this was so beautiful.  It looks like a clever sculpture.  Not the real deal!

And I actually made this Chorizo, Mac, and Cheese dish from emergingadulteats.  Of course I made it vegetarian.  LOL!  It turned out great.  I used soyrizo that I made from scratch.  The recipe is below and it’s super easy.  I use regular cheese, but if you want to go vegan look into Daiya.  They have both cheddar AND pepperjack!

This Week’s Recipe Roundup!

All are being tested in Chez Casey.  And they have the Jim Casey seal of approval!  If you didn’t get a chance to see them, here are the links!

I liked this post, felt like an overview of the whole of the blogging world lol, I’ve followed 🙂 I’m a writer myself, and I’d love it if you took the time to check out my small blog. Atm its mainly short stories and a bit of poetry, but I’m working on a novel (Prologue is on my blog). Feel free to check it out, keep blogging and have a good day 🙂

Thank you for sharing about the Polaris Project. Never realized this issue was so close to “home”. Always somewhere or someone else’s problem. Will include you and the organization in my prayers. Again, thanks for bringing to heart and mind. d

Denise you are such a good person. Thank you for your prayers.. These poor kids. And people tend to ignore it. Or try to. I love our group though. We have people from all different faiths, ethnic groups, race. Economic groups. I think that this is what God wants us to do.
