“This is one of my favorite soups of all time. It is so easy. The secret to this deep, rich soup is a long slow caramelization, the key to unlocking the mushroom’s magic. This is just pure essence of mushroom.”
I thought that this sounds good and made it. All I can say is that this is one of the best mushroom soups I have ever had. Progresso and Campbell’s eat you heart out! Read the rest of this entry »

This is a wonderful recipe! I have made this and this is the only way my husband will eat brussel sprouts. The roasting seems to caramelize them taking away the sulphorous taste. I do add rosemary to the this. It has become a treat in our family.

I love finding recipes that are easy and fast. The combination of goat cheese and tomato on a flaky pastry look absolutely fabulous. And the ingredients are things that you can easily have on hand. I always have goat cheese in the fridge. And I keep puff pastry in the freezer.

It’s going to be a little warmer today, but according to weather.com, we are going to start getting cooler tomorrow. I have been browsing to find some soup recipes. My husband loves soup. I would eat it 3 times a day. I know. When he had charge of the menu, we did that. LOL!
When we start getting cooler weather, I like to celebrate the new season with a soup meal. So while looking for something different, I came across this recipe. I love the flavor of roasted red pepper. It makes any tasty dish a little more intense.
Saturday was just one of those days. Both Jim and I were rushed. Jim finishing up work work that he didn’t finish during the week. I having a meeting that I needed to be at. Neither of us remembered to go shopping for the weekend. Eek! There is no way that I would let us starve. So as Hercule Poirot use to say “It is time to use the little gray cells!” I have a perpetual pantry. Items that I can take 3 or 4 of them to make a great entree. I never have to worry about feeding us. Read the rest of this entry »

Did you know that the first day of fall was September 22nd? Over the last week, you wouldn’t have known it here. Summer was going on too long. It was hot and sultry here. Temps have been in the upper 80s. Some days it got into the 90s.
As I sit here writing this, it’s raining. With the rain have come the cool temperatures. Fall has arrived to the Gulf Coast.
With that I have been thinking that it’s time to bring in the last of summer garden. This soup recipe looks good for using some of that produce. I love the name “kitchen sink” too!

I have a confession to make. I think that garlic makes almost everything taste better. When a recipe says 2 cloves, I put in 4. There is one caveat. No garlic in ice cream or any dessert. If you do have a recipe that garlic is an ingredient, please send it to me. I would love to try it.
Garlic is also a great natural remedy. Did you know that if you eat enough garlic on a regular basis, that your clotting time for your blood increases. It can decrease your risk of stroke by 30%. Garlic eaters have better cardiovascular health!
