Do you know the symbolism behind bobbing for apples?

As a kid, I thought that Halloween was all about dressing up in costume.  Going door to door to yell Trick or Treat.  And collecting the treats.  I always did wonder what the trick part was about.  Some kids went around the neighborhood TP’ing trees.  That was about it.

When I got older, I understood that Halloween was connected to All Saints Day.  I thought it was the day when the ghosts showed up to get into heaven.  I never gave it much more thought than that.  This is the first yeare that I have really looked into what Halloween is and how it came into being.  It’s amazing what blogging will do to you.  So here are 10 little known facts about Halloween! Trick or Treat! Decorate & Eat! “Candy Corn Creations”

From Once Upon A Spice!

I love candy corn!  There is nothing else quite like it.  The taste and texture was so different from the other candies I got.  One of the saddest things is that we only would see it around Halloween.  Fortunately, I was the only one in my family that liked it.  So any candy corn was MINE!

These days, I will buy a couple of bags in October.  Then stick them in the freezer, so they are there when I have the craving.  I just thought them as something to grab a handful and pop in my mouth.

When I saw these recipes, I thought why didn’t I think of this.  They are all so clever.   That’s why I love food blogs!

When I was younger in my wilder days, I would have love the shots.  I wanted to share this with you, because all these recipes are super easy and pretty quick.  They are great ideas if you need to do something last minute!

How clever!  I especially love the spider web.  I started chanting  ”Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive”  Is that from Shakespeare?  My son would have started singing itsy bitsy spider!  LOL.

If you can’t wear a costume on Halloween, this is a way to celebrate it!  It would definitely be a conversation starter!

From Absolutely Muffin!

Another day, another pumpkin recipe.  If you have a Halloween Party over the weekend, these would be great!   The blend of the pumpkin spice(cinnamon, nutmeg, & ginger) sounds great.  I love the icing.  They use mascarpone cheese, which is not easy to find in my stores.  I am going to substitute it with cream cheese.  The recipe is in metric, so here is the conversion table!
