Eggnog is one of those tasty treats that many of us love to indulge in during the Christmas holidays but it’s easy to end up with a lot of it left when the party is over! The good news is that eggnog makes a tasty addition to a lot of other recipes!
What would Christmas be without eggnog? Rich and creamy. Spicy. Spiked or not, it’s a wonderful addition to our holiday celebrations. The best eggnog that I ever had was what my husband use to make when we first got married. Though, he came up with the recipe when he was a frat boy. Should have known better.
Every year, he would put together the perfect blend of eggs, cream, spices, and brandy. It was so smooth that you would drink it like a cream soda. The brandy would eventually catch up with people. I learned to keep an eye on home much people were drinking. Needless to say, our parties were pretty popular!
When we moved south, we did do Jim’s recipe anymore. I was not thrilled with the eggnog we got at the store. A couple of years ago, I stumble across Southern Comfort Eggnog. Non alcoholic of course! Yet it is the best eggnog I have tasted since Jim’s. And yes, it is made by The Southern Comfort company.
No matter how much I love eggnog though, I am always left with eggnog I don’t want to drink at the end of the season. In the past, I have found some good recipes to use it up. I will be making some of them next week. I did find this article that might interest people on easy ways to use it up!
From Living On A Dime!
I started to post these tips after Christmas but I just realized there will be a lot of eggnog served at Christmas parties over the next week or two. Instead of saving these leftover eggnog tips until after Christmas, here are a couple more ways to use it now:
Use eggnog in place of milk in your bread or rice pudding.
Pour leftover eggnog on hot cereal in place of milk.
Use eggnog in place of milk in your favorite pancake mix.
Use eggnog in place of milk in a yellow cake for a really nice rich cake.
Use eggnog in place of milk in muffins especially good in spice or that type of muffin.
