Last night, we went to a church meeting. We pulled into the parking lot and it was packed. Yikes! Our meeting wasn’t that exciting, so what was happening? Well. It turned out that it was the first meeting of Weight Watchers for 2017. Everyone is ready to get rid of the excess poundage that the holidays brought.
This morning I saw that Good Morning America had a segment on weight loss diets that experts like. Here are the 7 best diets

I am a sushi fanatic. Before I became a vegetarian, I use to love going out for sushi after work. When I did become a veg head, I thought that I would never eat this again. However, a few years back, The Sky Bar opened up on the island. It was an indian/sushi bar restaurant. What a combination?
They have lovely vegan sushi. Along with their vegetarian spring rolls, the sky bar is my place that I go for special treats or celebrations. I happened on this post today. A sushi bowl. Yummy. And a lot of the ingredients are similar to the sushi I get at the restaurant. I have got to try this. And soon!
This Spicy Sushi Bowl is definitely worthy of my first post of 2017 . . . I can’t believe I haven’t shared this yet! This was one of my favorite lunches I meal prepped a few months back . . . the flavors were so different than what I usually eat for lunch, it made […]
We all have them in our family. People who can’t live without drama. Don’t let them pull you into their frenzy. Step back and take a deep breath. You will bring them with you and make their life a little less crazy along with your own!
I have been dealing with someone lately who seems to think that in order to feel respected, he needs to get expensive gifts. It made me think about this clip from the movie “Cool Runnings.”
John Candy tells Darice that if you are not enough without it, you will never be enough with it.
So many people get caught up in getting awards. Fancy cars. Expensive gifts. It’s almost like a drug. They are constantly looking for the next fix.
I have been thinking about setting intentions this year. Not coming up with goals. Instead, I want to look at how I live my life. What do I intend to do this yea? I want to simplify my life. Declutter it of things and people that don’t bring me pleasure or peace.
What about you? What are you doing with this year?
Have you ever watched the movie Rudy? In it, his friend Pete said “that dreams are what makes life bearable.” What a lovely thought. And as for Rudy, he was a small guy that had been told he wasn’t college material and there was no way he would ever be part of The Fighting Irish! He didn’t let that stop him. I followed his dreams. And he got them. If you get a chance, go watch the movie Rudy. You won’t be sorry!

I was web surfing yesterday(yes on New Years Day) and came across something old. Sloppy Joes! I use to love them when I was a kid. When I made them. My mom’s sloppy Joes were definitely different. This recipe is reminiscent of how I made them. I think that you will love this recipe!
Let me start by saying… these ain’t your mama’s manwiches and you’ll never use jarred, canned, or packaged sloppy joe mix again. These are hearty, rich, and full of flavor. Since my husband and I became pescetarians I haven’t even thought about making sloppy joes, but when I saw Beyond Meat crumbles in the grocery […]
With Labor Day coming up in the next week, I thought that I would find something to post for you labor day picnic. Here is something that I posted a year ago. These dishes are easy to make and delicious!
As a vegetarian, when you go to picnics, it’s hard to leave it feeling like you had a decent. It’s even harder living in Texas, where BBQ is ubiquitous. The only vegetable dishes are …
